As I mentioned in my previous post (read here), Kaş is a very charming town on the Turkish coast. But outside the town, the most remarkable feature is the diverse selection of boat trips available in the region.

The marina is the main starting point for most excursions, whether to explore the bays, nearby beaches, the sunken city of Kekova, or even to visit the island of Kastellorizo in Greece.

Walking around the marina, several agencies and boats offer different trips. Most boats have signs with information about the routes, schedules, and prices.

You can also speak directly with the captains to negotiate the trip details. It’s a good idea to stroll around the marina to compare options and find the trip that best suits your needs. Additionally, many hotels and guesthouses in Kaş can help you book boat trips if you prefer to organise everything in advance.

When we were there, it was a national holiday, and everything was hectic, including the overcrowded boat trips. Each boat carried between 40 and 90 people, and there were dozens of these boats.

Fortunately, we found a group that needed two more people to complete a trip the following day, and their boat, the Captain Garlic, had a maximum limit of only 15 people.

Wow, the trip was a-ma-zing!!!

We had a fantastic day exploring the nearby beaches of Kaş during an 8-hour tour.

The captain was attentive and chose the best bays, those less frequented by other boats, so it felt like we were in exclusive spots. We made five stops to swim in crystal-clear waters, which was perfect!

What I thought was great was that the boat trip included a delicious lunch. You choose in advance whether you want fish or chicken, along with various side dishes. Later, they serve afternoon tea with fresh, chilled fruits. The only thing is that you can’t bring your own food or drink, and beverages are not included in the package.

It was delightful to explore the charming coastal town of Kaş and its surroundings in such a relaxing way. While we sailed, we were amazed by the beauty of the turquoise waters and the hidden coves we discovered. It was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience!

Boat Trip Options

Kaş has a wide range of boat trips to suit different preferences and budgets. Here are some of the main options you might consider:

Private Trips: Ideal for those wanting a personalised itinerary and more exclusivity. You can rent a boat for your group and choose the stops and activities you want to do. This option tends to be more expensive but offers the flexibility to customise the trip according to your preferences.

Shared Trips: These trips are more economical and allow you to share the boat with tourists. Although less personalised, they offer an excellent opportunity to explore the region. Usually, these trips have fixed schedules and set itineraries.

Full-Day Excursions: these tours typically last 6 to 8 hours and include stops at various bays and beaches. They are perfect for those who want to make the most of the day by exploring different locations and swimming in various coves. However, the boats are usually large and carry more than 40 people.

Half-Day Trips: For those with less time, these trips generally last 3 to 4 hours and visit some of the main attractions in the area. They are a good option if you want a shorter yet still enjoyable excursion.

Sunset Cruises: These trips are ideal for those wanting to enjoy a spectacular evening at sea. Typically, they include a swim and a light dinner while you take in the sunset over the Mediterranean.

Tips

To ensure you make the most of your boat trip in Kaş, here are some valuable tips on what to bring and how to prepare:

Towels: bring a towel to dry off after swimming. Some boats provide towels, but having your own handy is always good.

Water and Snacks: Although most trips include meals, bringing a bottle of water and some light snacks is a good idea, especially if you have specific dietary needs (check if bringing your own items is allowed).

Sunscreen: the Mediterranean sun is intense, so it’s essential to apply high-factor sunscreen before heading out and reapply as needed throughout the day. Consider using a water-resistant sunscreen for better protection.

Hat and Sunglasses: A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses help protect your face and eyes from direct sunlight, providing additional comfort during the trip.

No matter which type of boat trip you choose, Kaş has something to offer for everyone. It was a fantastic way to see the stunning coastline and enjoy the clear waters. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend exploring the different options and finding the trip that suits you best. It’s worth it for a unique and memorable experience!
