During my trip to Turkey, I stopped by Kaleüçağız, a peaceful village that turned out to be the perfect base for a boat trip to Kekova Sunken City.

While I’ll dive into all the details about Kekova in another post, I wanted to share my experience in Kaleüçağız and how it made the boat trip even more enjoyable.

We boarded the boat from Hassan Restaurant, conveniently located right by the water. Once we set out, the boat trip quickly became the highlight of the day.

The owner’s daughter was the boat pilot and tour guide, and I was impressed by how knowledgeable she was. She gave us great insights into the area, adding an extra personal touch to the experience.
As we made our way toward Kekova, the views of the Mediterranean coastline were incredible. Along the way, we passed small islands and rocky shores, with such clear water that we could see the bottom in some places.
We even stopped at a part of Kekova Island that’s still open to visitors, where we had about an hour to relax by the beach, take in the ancient ruins, and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Although we originally just planned to catch the boat from Kaleüçağız, I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxing the village was. It’s quiet and not overly touristy, giving it a laid-back atmosphere.
We spent some time strolling around the village, enjoying the views, and having some seafood at Hassam Restaurant. It’s definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking to relax after a day on the boat.

Kaleüçağız is the perfect base for a boat trip to Kekova, offering a peaceful atmosphere, stunning views and great food. It’s a quiet village where you can relax before or after your Kekova boat trip. Would you like to know more about it? Then read all about it on my post about the boat trip to Kekova.
