Ferrari Museum Maranello: a complete guide for car lovers

This post is also available in: Português

If there is one destination every car enthusiast must visit, it’s Maranello. This small town in Italy breathes Ferrari at every corner and is home to the Ferrari Museum, a space that goes far beyond cars: it’s a dive into the history, innovation, and competitive spirit of the most iconic brand in the automotive world. Visiting it felt like travelling through time and speed.

The museum offers a full immersion into Ferrari’s history and evolution. Set aside 1.5 to 2 hours to fully appreciate all the exhibitions. You’ll see iconic cars, trophies, and artefacts that trace the brand’s journey from its founding to the latest models. There are also F1 simulators for those wanting to experience the thrill of driving a racing car.

Panoramic Factory Tour
The panoramic bus tour lasts around 45 minutes and requires a separate ticket. You don’t enter any buildings, and photography isn’t allowed, but the route circles the entire Ferrari factory, giving you a glimpse of each facility from the outside. The highlight? Watching Ferraris in various stages of production as they drive past the bus — it’s a thrilling peek into the world of Ferrari, even from the outside.

Tickets

You can buy tickets online in advance (which I recommend, especially during weekends or summer) or directly at the entrance. If you’re also planning to visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, look out for the combined ticket option, which makes the experience more convenient.

The Panoramic Factory Tour requires a separate ticket, and spots are limited — so if it’s on your list (and it should be!), book ahead to secure your place. 👉 Click here for the tickets.

Food Tips
I took the opportunity to have breakfast at Caffè dell’Orologio, which is wonderful, with fresh bread and amazing pastries. For lunch, I recommend Noriè – Gastronomia con Cucina, where I tried a delicious pasta.

Getting to Maranello

By plane: Bologna Airport (Guglielmo Marconi) – 45 km; Florence (Peretola) – 135 km; Milan (Linate) – 180 km.

By car: Museum address: Via Alfredo Dino Ferrari, 43, 41053 Maranello MO, Italy. The roads are well-signposted, and parking is available. I usually compare rental options through Discover Cars, which brings together providers in one place and makes it easier to find a car that suits the trip and budget.

By train: The nearest station is in Modena. I usually book train tickets through Trainline because it makes it easy to compare schedules and fares and manage the booking in one place.

By bus: Regular lines connect Modena to Maranello; check schedules in advance.

Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena

If you’re short on time, I’d suggest prioritising the Maranello Museum. But if you have a little extra time, the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena is also worth a visit. It’s smaller, more intimate, and focused on the founder’s life and vision, with some of the brand’s most iconic cars on display.

A scheduled shuttle bus service runs between the Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello, which also stops at Modena Railway Station. You can read more about it on this post here.
