Dubai is known for its futuristic skyline, but its coastline is just as impressive. From lively city beaches to quieter stretches of sand with views of the Burj Al Arab, there is a beach for every type of traveller.
In this guide, I share 10 of the best beaches in Dubai, what makes each one unique, and which are best depending on the kind of experience you’re looking for.
Iconic Beaches with Classic Dubai Views
Some beaches in Dubai are popular for a reason: they offer the city’s most recognisable views and a lively atmosphere.
Jumeirah Public Beach is one of the most popular spots for visitors, mainly because it offers one of the best viewpoints of the Burj Al Arab. It is a busy and energetic beach, often filled with tourists and locals throughout the day. While the scenery is iconic, it is not the best option if the goal is peace and quiet.
JBR Beach is one of the most vibrant beachfront areas in the city. The water is generally calm and clear, and the surrounding area is full of restaurants, cafés and shops along The Walk. Compared to other central beaches, it feels more structured and entertainment-focused, with plenty happening at all times of the day.
The beach is located just minutes from The Beach at JBR and The Walk at JBR, making it easy to get to hotels, bars, restaurants and cafes in the area. There is no cost for this beach.
Best Beaches for Views and Photography
These beaches stand out for their scenery and quieter atmosphere, often offering some of the best photo opportunities in the city.
Al Sufouh Beach is often referred to as “Secret Beach” due to its relatively hidden feel compared to more developed areas. It was one of my personal favourites in Dubai.
The atmosphere feels calmer and more natural, especially compared to the city’s busier beaches. The turquoise water and open views of the Burj Al Arab make it particularly photogenic. It has become more well-known in recent years, but still retains a quieter atmosphere than most central beaches.
Sunset Beach
This beach is also known as Umm Suqeim and it is popular among surfers and famous for its breathtaking views of the sunset over the Arabian Gulf. It also has magnificent views of the Burj Al Arab. It is free for access and has a jogging track and a play area for kids.
4×4 Beach
This beach is found next to Jumeirah Beach Park and offers remarkable views of the Dubai skyline. It is called that because of the off-road vehicles lined up along the beach. It is free for access.
Best for Activities and a More Lively Atmosphere
If the idea is to be active or surrounded by energy and movement, these beaches are the most suitable.
Kite Beach
This particular beach is mainly for those who like sports. Here you can paddle board, kite surf or play beach volleyball. Also, it is a place where kite surfers gather. In the afternoons it is quite busy, as the wind usually is the strongest then. There is no cost for this beach.
Marina Beach
Marina beach is located in the Dubai Marina. Here you have lovely views of the Burj Al Arab and the marina. There are also several restaurants and hotels established nearby. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent. There is no cost for this beach.
Family-Friendly and Well-Equipped Beaches
Al Mamzar Beach
It is one of the top-rated beaches in Dubai and it includes many amenities like barbecue areas and playgrounds. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent here as well.
Jumeirah Beach Park
Jumeirah Beach Park combines sandy beach areas with green park spaces. It offers a more structured environment compared to open beaches, with entry fees and maintained facilities.
Jumeirah Open Beach
It is one of Dubai’s first public beaches. There are many facilities and a 1.8km running track. The beach is also provided with showers and public toilets. There is no cost for this beach.
A Final Note on Dubai’s Beaches
Beyond these well-known spots, Dubai has many other beaches to explore. On Palm Jumeirah, several luxury resorts also offer private beachfront access with exclusive amenities and views of the island’s unique shape.
No matter which beach you choose, each one shows a different side of Dubai — from quiet natural stretches of sand to highly developed urban waterfronts.
The city’s coastline is surprisingly diverse, and the best experience often depends less on the beach itself and more on the kind of day you’re looking for.
