When we went to Miami, one of the things we wanted to do was to visit the beautiful Everglades National Park and also to do the airboat tour. The park is located in South Florida and has more than 1.5 million acres, being the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States.
Everglades National Park protects a unique landscape that provides essential habitat for numerous rare and endangered species like the American crocodile, manatee and the Florida panther.
The best time to visit the park is between November and April, as water levels drop during this season and large numbers of animals gather around remnant water holes, making wildlife viewing easy. Also in the summer, it can be a bit annoying because of the mosquitos.
There are many activities that you can do at the park, like airboat tour guides, tram tours, concession boat tour, field excursions that include wet hikes, bird watching walks and many more. Also, bicycle and canoe rentals are also available or self-guided exploration.
There are plenty of companies that do the airboat tour. The one we did with was “Everglades Safari Park” as no reservation is required and they have a car park. They do a 30-40 minute airboat tour, and after that, you can see a Wildlife Nature Show. Also in the grounds they have Jungle Trail, Observation Platform and Exhibits. While doing the airboat tour we saw a few alligators and crocodiles, but you really have to look for them. And it was quite challenging to take a good picture of them.
I got curious to visit Everglades National Park since you mentioned it is a good location for an airboat tour. My friend has been inviting me to try airboat touring. I think it’s a good idea so I must come with him sometime.
